Day 11 - Two Days Away (From Gotcha Day)
Smiley D
Startin out the day we both felt pretty good.  Gulbanu
and the Baby House Director dropped by and we got the chance to ask some questions.
What's Happenin Over There?
It turns out that the Lil Kazak princess (pictured above)
really is the Baby House favorite.  Whenever she wants
to move she lets out a bellow and one of her entourage
comes over and picks her up....
Yaaaaaaaaaaargh
In fact, the little one not only gets picked up but she
gets to "fly" (rocked around, cradled, thrown in the air &
taken to the window for her own personal looksee).
So forget the previous theories....she's just spoiled.

Air Baby
Speakin of Flying...this little fellow used to be a favorite.
But now that he's almost walking the caregivers tend
to spend less time doting on him...(they like to dote on
the helpless ones.) But he's still very popular....
Is The Coast Clear?
Here the little guy is checking around to
make sure that no one is around..
Lookin Down the Tube
Yup the coast is clear....now let's see
how we get the balls outta this tube.
Smash Da Binkey
Not sure why, but Ethan has this habit of crawling over to this step, pulling himself up and then repeatedly
smash his binkey against it.....
So How Do You Stop The Crying?
Easy.  Now that we know the little thing
is screaming for a change in venue..we
just pick her up....and move her around,
and up, and over....I wish they told us on
day 1.
On The Denise Swing
Isabella is sitting in Denise's arms.
We swing her up and down from this
position.

Bounce the Baby
The only problem is that a bouncing 17lb baby really feels like a static 25lb baby (gravity)....this can tire you out.....
Crunch
Nope, Ethan isn't really chewing the side of this wood.
He's actually using his only two teeth to get a tooth
hold with which to pull himself up with.  Its the same
technique a mountain climber does when they use their
ice picks to secure their place on a mountain...way to
go Ethan.
Chewin On The Lap Pad
Perhaps he thought it was a giant potatoe chip.
Bouncin Baby = Happy Baby
As you can see....the little one is all
happy.

D and the Caregivers
These two ladies were very sweet...Always saying
"Heeeeeeellllllooooooo" and greeting us warmly each
day......
Day 11 Paka
Inside Our Shopping Bag
As promised, here's another quick look at some of the goodies we managed to find at Tsum.
The Ornate Clam Shelled Jewelry Box
This is a another fine example of a Russian Jewelry box.  What makes this one different is that it was made from the top of an actual conch shell.....the artwork on the outside  and inside is very exquisite ....so of course we had to have it
Inside the Box
This box is of course signed and there is a very nice
poem written on the inside in the artists own hand.
Here is an inside shot of the artwork on the reverse side
of the clam.....the poem is written on the inner bottom
of the box.
A More Traditional Box
This lacquer box is what a more traditional
Russian Box looks like.  This one sorta
winked at us....very pretty, elaborate
artwork, lots of color....

Cock Fight Lacquer Box
This box has a different sort of artwork on the front.  The
colours aren't as vibrant as the previous box....but its
very beautiful in its own right.

Day 12

Today we met with the Baby House Director and Galbanu during our visit.  We were able to ask a few questions about the children.  We were told that we would get a feeding and sleeping schedule after court on Wednesday.

Of course our biggest question was about Isabella and her crying jags.  Well we found out that Ms. Isabella is a favorite amongst her group caregivers.  It seems that she is carried frequently, cooed at, cuddled, swung around and kissed, sung to etc etc.  She truly is the Kazak  Princess!!
No wonder she gets bored and cries with us!  We didn't know that swinging a six month old and carrying her around would quiet her.  So needless to say we tried it - and of course it worked like a charm!

Gee now the question is we can't keep doing this forever...she has to learn to crawl some time....doesn't she?.
